God, blogging is a lonely profession. Or should I say vocation? Or maybe time-killer (waster)? I suppose it could be worse. I do get the occasional comment, and I can see by the number thingie that people do land here off and on. The site metre tells me that peeps from all over the world at least touch down here before flying off to other venues. I know people are busy and have actual lives which are fulfilling. I have read about this.

What's even funnier is that on the political blogs, there are bunches of people coming and going, but I never hear from them. I guess they like to come or they wouldn't be showing up, but it's sooo quiet when you are blogging and never hear from anyone. I heard from cureall today, so that was great. He's going to Florence, so anyone who has any suggestions for a good trip might drop by his gaff and give him some suggestions.

I just read in the 'My LJ' feature about SixApart, who owns Livejournal, creating a new site called VOX (I'm not impressed at all with their ugly, ugly and slow-loading front page). I guess the SixApart people said LJ was mainly the domain for young (read that: immature people), and that kinda pissed off a lot of people who are LJ bloggers but who are not teeny boppers and 20somethings. The article suggested we all go over to our profile page and put in the year of our birth--even if we have the box unchecked that allows our readers to see it. That way LJ can see just how many of us older bloggers there are in their database. Not a bad idea. I know there is quite a lot of prejudice against LJ just over this issue. I think Google also exhibits an extraordinary amount of indifference toward LJ because the sites previously did not carry ads. Perhaps the sponsored LJ sites will change that somewhat. Google will not do a site search for your LJ blog, did you know that? They will search all Livejournals, and they come back with absolutely dismal results. This tells you what motivates Google (spell that m-o-n-e-y). If I am in error, then set me straight. If you want to seach your blog here, use ljseek.

Others have told me they don't like LJ because there are no 'freshly posted' links on the log-in page. Actually, however, there are approximately 300 new LJ posts every minute, and you can see them
>>here--if you have the time and fast connection, that is!
